A recent report from Jeff Williamson shows some very interesting trends for the Florida blueberry industry. These numbers are from the year 2007. Source NASS
Here are 5 things that stood out to me.
1. Out of the 10 states that produce blueberries, Florida is the 5th largest. It produces 8% of the total industry. (Michigan is #1 with 32% of market)
2. Florida averaged $5.00 per lb in 2007 (49% more than any other state in the country)
3. Florida produces 13% of the fresh market
4. 2500 acres were harvested FL in 2007
5. FL Produced almost 8 million lbs of fresh blueberries.
These numbers show us that Florida is definitely trending up, but still has room to grow. Click the following link for more information about blueberry bushes.
